Introducing khp Super Kid Cole
I am thrilled to introduce this month’s khp Super Kid, Cole. Cole was nominated by Yvette Thomas, long time khp client. Cole is 8 years old and in the 2nd grade. Cole was born with hearing loss but he doesn’t let that stop him!
Here’s what Cole’s mom, Leigh Ann, says about his journey: Cole was born with hearing loss. We didn’t receive a diagnosis until he was 3. Prior to 3, he had many surgeries for tubes, adenoids, and hearing tests. We finally got a diagnosis after getting an ABR at Vanderbilt, under anesthesia. Cole also had developmental delay with walking and fine motor skills. After we received a hearing loss diagnosis, he was fitted for hearing aids and received speech therapy and occupational therapy 4 times a week. He was accepted to the early childhood program at Crockett Elementary in Williamson County. We were so grateful for the program! He progressed so much prior to kindergarten. He has worked so hard with meeting his IEP goals. He did get discharged from occupational therapy at age 6. He currently receives speech through school 2 times a week and is doing a great job.
I adore the images we captured with Cole and his mom. I think they are quite smitten with each other. Sadly, Dad was at work. I bet he will love having these images at his office to remind him of his awesome family.
Cole is a happy kid with a big personality. He loves music and spends time listening to his favorite songs on his Alexa device. He plays soccer and he loves Nashville sports, including the Titans and the Predators. Cole wore his Predators jersey to his session with me, so we grabbed a hockey stick and he got to “be” a Predator! Check out his dance moves!
It is such a privilege for me to be able to honor Cole and his family as a khp Super Kid. Lots of our little friends face challenges that are temporary and/or lifelong. They do hard things and are brave. Cole is definitely a Super Kid!
