When you hire a photographer, you often have a vision of what you want your images to look like. Maybe not the exact location, or even how your kids will smile or sit, but usually you have spent time looking through other friends’ photos, photographers’ websites or Pinterest for ideas of what is current. Or you might be working toward matching an existing look in your home, be it colors that coordinate with the family room where the big family picture will hang or pairing the newest toddler’s portrait on a wall with older siblings at the same age. Some folks want edgy images, some want more candid style and others prefer a traditional look. It’s my job to figure all of that out BEFORE we ever get to the location and start our session. Because in the end, I want you to have images that you love and that work for you and your family in your home.
When Jenny contacted me recently, she knew her goals for her session. The last time we were together she had 2 adorable kids and we created an adorable family image that hangs in their home. Now, they have a spunky 2 year old daughter as well (time flies!) and mom is pregnant with #4! The goal of our session was to create an updated family image and to capture the 3 kids together. Jenny even texted me images of what we captured last session that are hanging on the walls so I knew what to aim for! And, of course we needed some adorable images of Miss Audrey, too! Jenny likes a more traditional look to her images, so I suggested the open grassy area at the private, Brentwood outdoor location where I shoot. Happy customer? Happy photographer!
